RE: Paint a frdige ( plastic ) vent cover
Yep, any paint on the vent covers will allow less light unless its clear,,, A jab yet a tip. Some colors that cant be matched can be brought back to life with either gloss or semi gloss clear, depending on how it looked originally. Not camper related, but Im going to touch up some scratched plastic on my atv with clear. No color match, but will sand and paint the damage with clear to bring back the shine. Repainting is somewhat easy, but requires good prep. I have been doing this most of my life and can help with some tips for anyone interested. I do magic with a spray can, prep, and masking tape and newspaper,,,,
RE: Videos of gatherings of German TC's :-)
Welcome back again Flaxi!!! Im glad to see you still are camping! Do you still have the Duramax, or do you have a different truck? Frank.

RE: a serious question
Sleepy, thats rather harsh. If my companions are my "kids", and Im happy with that, maybe thats the difference between you and me. Even though I have a wife, we would both agree our Samoyeds are as much joy to us as each other.
RE: Winterized...Bummer
I still camp after winterizing. I carry a 7 gallon water container. I fill gallon jugs to flush the toilet and wash dishes with. At home, I drain the holding tanks, dump a cup of antifreeze in the drains, and good to go again. Not a problem at all.
RE: 825 Lance Camper
I think that should work, we have similar rigs. My 835 says it weighs 2200 full. Actual weight, 3000! I do use my bags with about 20 lbs when towing. I also have the Rancho 9000x adjustable shocks, way cool!
RE: a serious question
I agree to some of the quality and thoughtful responses. This is a rather lame response, but to me, burnout makes me think of doing something rather different than usual. Last month we left the toys behind and just took grandma Samoyed for a weekend trip stopping wherever we were at the end of the day. No schedule, just relaxing, cruisin, stopping along the way. it was fun, because we usually have a destination or are boating or riding. I hope ya find the fuel you need to reignite the fire!
RE: buddy heater
Ditto to the above. I have used mine for many hours before bed and just kept some type of venting slightly open, window, roof vent. I got a bit dizzy, but couldnt tell if it was the beer or fumes,,,just kidding!!
RE: Duramax engine braking help!!
I love my Max/Allison. In the tow/haul mod it "learns" to downshift. It can actually rev over the redline, because there is no power being applied to the motor. The drivetrain is smarter than we are!. I always use a combo of brakes and engine braking so it never gets out of hand. Just go slow, and be safe!
RE: Rainy day Camping Do you do it?
When I was tenting it,I might cancel. Our last tent trip was in hail for 3 days, to wet for a fire, and miserable! Now many years and campers later, I say bring it on! Like many said, the awning is great, or even inside. I know Im not getting wet if I dont want to, and thats agood feeling.
RE: Hold Down
My instructions say to tighten them about 1/4 inch past where they are snug when you sinch them. As said, they need the room to move. I check mine all the time, as the camper moves a bit on some of the trails I go down.
RE: You Gotta Love That Camper
you guys crack me up, this isn't about money, whats cheaper and what money is saved or spent, this isn't about the definition of "camping", this isn't even about how often you use your camper. This is about personal preference and preference to conveniences;
I prefer my TC over any hotel any day,
I prefer my bed over anyone elses no matter how "clean" they say it is,
I prefer my frig and cooking over any fancy resturant,
I prefer to move around as I please,
I prefer to be in the woods instead of around noisy neighbors,
I prefer to sleep under the stars, where I please,
I prefer to spend money on my TC to make ME more comfortable,
I prefer my TC and MY comforts to make ME a "happy camper"
My TC gives the the rest & relaxation I prefer over anyhting else
just my 2 cents worth
Amen, brother! I go to a lot of diffent forums, but people love to argue about the dumbest things on here,,,
RE: Most embarrassing moment camping. Join in
Geez, I have several,,okay, 1st one. My trailer sat at my parents for 15 years when we decided to start using it. My friend and I were bored at the campspot, so we decided to try and light the fridge. It was 4th of July weekend. He was outside at the vent opening and I lit it from inside. he suddenly screamed FIRE! I said, yeah, its supposed to have a pilot flame. He said,NO,,FIRE!!!! A squirrel had built a giant nest in the vent and the debris was burning. We freaked out like a couple of idiots doing a chinese fire drill(go figure) running around trying to get water. All I could think about was, I have a giant firecracker here waiting to explode 2 propane tanks. We finally got the fire out by soaking the trailer inside and out, and no one else near us had a clue what was going on, they didnt even notice.
RE: Ordering a new 835 Lance
I bought my 01 used, but the owner never had it back to the shop. It has worked great for us. Hope you enjoy yours like we have enjoyed ours!
RE: Why this forum rules
I agree this is a great place. What does crack me up is sometimes a legite question gets a knucklehead response totally useless to the posters question, but that happens in most forums. 2 thumbs up to the people that keep this place running!!!!!!!!!
RE: Headlights too high. Are airbags the solution?
On a proper ride height, the headlights should be a bit high. That indicates you have dropped enough to engage the whole spring pack, including the overloads. If you put that much air in the bags, you are riding on the bags, and not getting the full use of the suspension. I have bags also, but adjust the pressure carefully so i am using the suspension and the bags to support everything. A bit of headlite adjustment may be necessary. I can tell a big difference in the sway when the bags are inflated too much.
RE: Leveling a TC
I think a big issue being missed is how the airbags are working with the trucks suspension. You can put a large amount of air in them to level everything, but its not good to have the airbags support all weight of the camper. You need to use the trucks springs to help the overall weight distribution and not let bags do all the work to make the truck ride like stock. Its a balance of the whole system to get the best weight control. I know others will chime in here about not using the bags to get the look back to stock, but use all of the suspension components to do their respective job properly. Too much air puts too much reliance on the bags, and doesnt let the trucks suspension do its proper job.
RE: Videos of gatherings of German TC's :-)
